(DESCRIPTION) Logo: O TAN Outreach and Technical Assistance Network, Adult Education Trainer. Christina Hyatt. (SPEECH) CHRISTINA HYATT: Hi, my name is Christina Hyatt, and I'm an OTAN Subject Matter Expert. (DESCRIPTION) She reads onscreen text. (SPEECH) The purpose of this video is to introduce you to the ASAP Canvas integration, show you where to find some important information, as well as teach you how to do some skills that will be needed in the integration. During this video, I will show you where to access the instructions. I will teach you what the integration does and where to get help. I will help you understand the one-way communication. I will teach you how to set up an API email and password, and I will teach you how to toggle between ASAP 3 and 4. So the good news is ASAP and Canvas do work together. Let's take a look. We'll start by navigating to ASAP's Canvas Integration page. You can scan this QR code, find the link in the Canvas course, or I always just search for it in the web browser by typing in Canvas-ASAP integration. (DESCRIPTION) She opens the ASAP page titled Canvas Integration and reads the list of options. (SPEECH) This page outlines the six things that you can do through ASAP. You can configure Canvas, you can create a class, you can create a Canvas class from a class already created in ASAP, create an enrollment in Canvas, drop a student, and cancel a class. In future videos, I will go over how to do some of these steps. Two important features I want to point out on this page as well is, first of all, the Follow button. By clicking Follow and entering your information, you can receive updates on any changes made to the integration. You can see that this integration was updated six months ago. (DESCRIPTION) Top right corner. (SPEECH) Also, you can click here to submit a request. I know when I was configuring Canvas and ASAP, I required quite a bit of help from ASAP, and they were very responsive. Pay attention to this note about the one-way communication. The ASAP-Canvas integration is a one-way communication from ASAP to Canvas. For example, if you create a class in ASAP and connect it to a Canvas course, then students who are added in ASAP will automatically be enrolled in Canvas, but not vice versa. Let's jump over to Canvas, and I'll now show you how to set up an API email and password. (DESCRIPTION) She navigates on the left-hand bar of the Canvas page. (SPEECH) Under your Admin shield, you'll choose your root account or the account that you're integrating with ASAP. Then you want to choose people. Next, we'll go over to the plus People button, which allows us to add a person. (DESCRIPTION) On top of the page. (SPEECH) I recommend that you give this a name that will help you remember what this API account is for. For example, API-ASAP integration. (DESCRIPTION) She types in the pop-up window fields. (SPEECH) I also recommend that you use an email that is generic and not personal because if the person whose email is used leaves the school, then the connection is lost. For us, we used an email that the tech team uses. Once this is completed, you can add the user. And then the user can log in and create their account. Make sure that more than one person has this login information. Lastly, let's jump over to ASAP so I can make sure that everybody knows how to toggle between ASAP 3 and 4. (DESCRIPTION) She navigates on the left-hand side bar of the ASAP page. (SPEECH) ASAP 3 is about to sun down, but for those of you who are still using ASAP 3, the entire Canvas integration with ASAP is done through ASAP 4. From your home page, you can see that option on the left navigation menu at the bottom. Clicking on ASAP 4, takes you into the new environment that does allow you to configure Canvas with ASAP and perform all the operations explained on their website. When you're done and would like to return to ASAP 3, you can do so by clicking return to ASAP Classic. This was a quick introduction to some of the key features you'll need to know in order to perform the Canvas-ASAP integration.
