(SPEECH) CAROLYN ZACHRY: Welcome back. I hope that you are all refreshed and ready for another exciting year at your adult education agency. Whether you are returning from a well-deserved break or joining us anew, I want to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you. First and foremost, I want to emphasize how much each of you contributes to our mission. From teachers to administrative staff, counselors to support personnel, your roles are integral to the success of California adult learners. Whether you directly interact with learners or support behind the scenes, your dedication and hard work truly make a difference in their lives, their family's lives, and in your community. This year, we are implementing new courses tests. These assessments will provide valuable insights that help tailor educational programs more precisely. There may be challenges as you put into operation these tests. One of the challenges we have heard relates to low-literacy students not placing on the test. It is recommended that you place these students in your program, provide at least 12 hours of instruction, and then retest. A benefit of these new tests is for high-literacy students as they will not top out on the test as easily as before. We've also seen encouraging results from our efforts to collect Social Security numbers and ITIN. This practice is crucial to ensuring accurate reporting and funding. Continue to work with students to help them provide this information if they have one of these identification numbers. We are also continuing with the survey for those students not providing identification numbers and are seeking ways to move the salary question, as we have heard that some students stop the survey once they get to this question. We still have to ask the question and are seeking alternative ways to do so. (DESCRIPTION) Carolyn Zachry. (SPEECH) I am excited to announce the extension of our open office hours aimed at improving communication in the field. Our summer pilot was well received and attended. This initiative reflects our commitment to providing the support and guidance you need to succeed. As we move forward, the Adult Education Office will have a strong focus on integrated education and training and measurable skill gains. These are not just metrics but pathways to transforming lives and equipping students with tangible skills that open doors to better opportunities. Lastly, I encourage each of you to remember your why-- the reason you chose to work in adult education. Whether it's a passion for teaching, a commitment to community service, or a desire to make a meaningful impact, let that drive and inspire you every day. Thank you for all of your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm. Together, we will continue to uphold our mission of empowering individuals through education and creating a brighter future for them. Here's to a successful and fulfilling year ahead. Welcome back, and let's make it a great one.
