LAURA BOSTWICK: My name is Laura Bostwick, and I am a co-op intern on the Commercial Mortgage Servicing team in Asset Management. As a commercial real estate intern, I primarily work through our portfolio loans. This has given me the opportunity to dig through our financials, see how loans are structured and serviced over time, giving me a really valuable insight into the industry and commercial real estate, in general.

I love being able to connect with the professionals on my team and throughout Asset Management, as well as the interns and other peers throughout Principal. This has given me an opportunity to meet so many different people in so many different departments, and hear about how everything works together. I really do feel as though Principal has set me up for success, whether that be providing me with experienced professionals, real-world projects in an environment that's collaborative and supportive, and also giving you the chance to grow within your internship.

My best advice for inspiring interns is to work hard, but also take the time to get to know those around you. If you create strong relationships now, they will end up being strong connections in the future. And that's what your network will be created of.
