[AUDIO LOGO] SPEAKER 1: OTAN Outreach and Technical Assistance Network. INSTRUCTOR: This is week 5 extension of the Triple E framework. What we want you to learn are objectives for this week. The warm up will include looking at what you learned last week, and how do you add an extension, and how do you add extension to your lessons. Introduction including the definition of extension, you'll learn about the activities that you can use to add extension in your lesson, as well as questions to ask. For practice, read the scenarios and evaluate them for extension, then select a lesson plan and walk it through with the addition of extension activities. For the application, you'll submit your own lesson plan with extension activities in two ways as a PDF and on the padlet. Finally, your reflection is Fun with Failure, summary and weekly evaluation. Questions to consider from last week. What was enhancement? Can you give examples of enhancement strategies? How did you use enhancement in your lessons? And share it on a Padlet how do you extend your lessons. Going over the overview, and to do list. You see the same type of activities that you have done previously. We are repeating the pattern. First, let's define extension. Students learn more deeply when they can apply their classroom learning to real-life problems. Finding ways to develop learning in its natural environment is a fundamental piece of lesson planning. Learning experiences should bridge students current everyday life and classroom experiences. As we look to see what activities promote extension, you can partner with real-world experts, authentic discourse with others, bring in speakers. They can have pen pals to share what they're learning. Students can direct their own project. You can include role play. You can bring real-world problems into discussions. And always, my opinion, always includes soft skills so that they have the skills to be prepared for the career in their future. The extension questions that will be asked. Does the technology create opportunities for students to learn outside of their typical school day? Does the technology create a bridge between school learning and their everyday experiences? Finally, does the technology allow students to build skills that they can use in their everyday lives? For the practice, you will be looking at scenarios so that you can see what scenarios are possible, evaluate them whether or not you think extension is in them, and what needs to be improved so that those scenarios could be successful. Now you talk about extension. You've read the chapter explaining the concept, and now answer the questions concerning the scenarios and how you would improve them, and things you feel strongly about the things that you're learning. Pick your lesson plan so that you can continue on. You will see the lesson plan as it was last week. And then this week, you will look to see what you could add to make it include extension. Then you will, again, see the cheat sheet. If you want to use that with your own. Then you will evaluate the lesson and you will see how we add extension activities in it. Then you will then be prepared to create your own. The three questions on the rubric. Does the technology create opportunities for students to learn outside of their typical school day? Does the technology create a bridge between school learning and their everyday life experiences? And finally, does the technology allow students to build skills that they can use in their everyday lives? Submit your lesson plan. Remembering the criteria that it has to be in the YPF format. It's got to have tech. Please be sure that you mark the extension activities so they're easily found. Make sure the links are active and there is step by step instructions. You'll post your PDF to the Padlet. And you get to look at the failures for this week. Let's see what you think. Review with a summary. Fill the evaluation. And finally, if you want to use the link here, you can use the link here to access week five. Our contact information our link is there. We'd be happy to help you. And a reminder of the various things that OTAN strives to offer the teachers.
