Christina Hyatt: Hi, I'm Christina Hyatt, and I work for OTAN as a subject matter expert. The purpose of this video series is to present options for integrating ASAP and Canvas. The objective of this video is to go through the steps to configure Canvas and ASAP using the documentation found on ASAP's website.

To get started with the Canvas configuration, navigate to the instructions on the ASAP website. You can scan this QR code, or find the link in the Canvas course. You can also always just Google, Canvas ASAP integration. This is the Canvas integration website. To configure Canvas, there are five steps with a few pictures, and I will be showing you how to do them. These steps are in ASAP, but we will jump to Canvas for some of the information.

First, in your ASAP website, you want to make sure you're working in ASAP 4. From the left navigation menu, we'll choose Set Up at the bottom. And then we will choose Features. On the Integrations tab, you'll see Canvas listed. And across from it you'll see the ellipses. Click on that and choose Edit.

These five fields show up. We'll click the pencil one more time to be able to edit these fields. The API key subdomain and Account ID are all things we'll find in Canvas. The username and password are something you'll create. When I chose the username and password for our API connections, I didn't want to use my username and password because if I left the school, then that connection would be lost. Instead, we chose a generic username and password that our school's tech team uses.

Let's jump over to Canvas. In Canvas, your subdomain is the name that precedes .instructure.com in the web URL. To find the account ID, you'll click on Admin shield and choose whichever account we're integrating. Usually, that's going to be your root account. Up here at the end of the URL you'll now see a number. That is your account ID.

Lastly, we're going to configure the API key. We'll jump to account. That's the very top option on the left navigation menu. Under Account, we'll choose Settings. Under Settings, if you scroll down, you'll find Approved Integrations. Scroll to the bottom of that list, and click New Access Token.

For purpose, you want to give a name that reminds you what this integration is, ASAP, ASAP configuration, whatever is helpful for you. And leave the expiration date blank. Take a moment to read this information. It says, "Copy this token down. Once you leave this page, you won't be able to retrieve this information again. You'll have to regenerate it to get a new value." So you'll want to take your token ID here. And Control-C to copy it.

Personally, I put mine on a piece of paper that I printed and I keep in a file. But I've never needed that information. Then you can come back here and add in the necessary information, your API key, your API username and password, the subdomain, and the account ID, and save. At this point, your integration is all set up, and you're ready to begin to create courses and add users. If you need more help or want to request more information, you can do that by sending an email to support@otan.us, thank you.
