PRESENTER: As a customer experience specialist for Principal, I love to help people. I might help 50 in a day. This job is a lot more than just checking account balances. I'm educating them about their retirement savings and finances.
I learn a lot, too. I went to school for communications, not retirement savings, but I've been able to become a licensed representative. I'm telling you, I learn something new every day.
I have enough flexibility to work from home sometimes, and my dog loves it when I work from home. Some days can feel like a lot. Not every customer is happy when they call, and I get that. There can be plenty of stress and frustration around the topic of finances, but I love taking ownership of a tough problem. I tell them--
Let's see what we can do to get this done today.
And I have experienced colleagues who I can call to help me zero in on a solution. I know I need to be present for our customers. I'm on a set schedule, and I'm expected to be efficient. I really appreciate how my role keeps me so connected to our customers. Sometimes I tell them, congratulations on your retirement. I can't wait to be you one day.
